Materials Science and Engineering

As a program assistant at the Battery Center, Laurie serves as a point of contact for guests, visitors, and staff, providing administrative and program support.

From the daily operations, high level event logistics and analyzing/facilitating business planning, I assist IMR’s Executive Director, associate directors and the entire IMR team with any and all support needed to ensure that institute’s goals are met.

Joanna leads pre-award proposal development, post-award program management, and seed grant administration for IMR faculty, while coordinating international research partnerships and events supporting the institute’s mission.

Gabi supports daily operations of the Battery Center and Nanotech West Lab through a variety of administrative tasks, including purchasing/procurement, supplier/user onboarding, record management, and operational support for internal and external users.

Mike leads communications for IMR, using written and visual storytelling to highlight the impact of Ohio State’s materials and manufacturing research, partnerships, events, funding and infrastructure, while also managing IMR websites and social media.

Mark focuses on maintaining rooftop and mechanical room equipment that enable the center's dry rooms to reach optimal dewpoint levels. He also oversees hazardous waste, shipping and receiving, cleaning, and other activities that keep the labs running.

Qingmin works closely with academic and industry partners to lead battery cell R&D, advancing, and scaling up next-generation battery technologies.

Paul leads safety, onboarding, and new materials evaluation efforts through training, reinforcement and coordination with lab and OSU EHS personnel. He supports evaporation, thermal processing and chemical hood tools, and Battery Center EHS consultation.

Niankai leads the manufacturing equipment projects for IMR, maintaining up to date records, commission, calibration, alignment, and improvement to all equipment to ensure the quality of the manufacturing processes.

Mary manages the fiscal aspects of Nanotech West including purchasing compliance, set-up coordination for users and projects, invoicing for NTW lab use, as well as various other administrative duties.

Stacy leads IT operations and technology initiatives, supporting research through secure computing infrastructure, laboratory systems, automation and cybersecurity. He develops/maintains tech services that enable reliable, efficient and secure operations.

Aaron supports MOCVD epitaxy tool maintenance and processes, Dicing Saw, AFM and various Nanofab activities. He is also responsible for new user orientation and safety.

Jay supports micro- and nanofabrication research via process development in photolithography/design, etching and deposition. He provides technical expertise, training and cleanroom support to advance external collaboration efforts and university research.

Kavya supports semiconductor- and polymer-based micro/nano-device fabrication and characterization. She specializes in plasma etching and atomic layer deposition, user training, process development, troubleshooting, and equipment stability monitoring.

Chris keeps the performance of Nanotech West Lab’s photolithography equipment and processes in check, monitoring process results using the cleanroom’s suite of metrology tools and conducting maintenance on equipment in and around the photolithography bay.

Keith has extensive experience in photolithographic processing and thin film vacuum coating deposition. Keith’s primary responsibilities include overseeing NTW’s cleanroom operations and training its users in photolithography and e-beam evaporation.

Pete supports the equipment at Nanotech West Lab. This includes lab equipment and facility support.

Travis supports the maintenance and processing of MOCVD epitaxy tools, as well as AFM and XRD characterization of grown thin films. He also assists with the maintenance and upkeep of the process gas delivery system.
