BATTERI: Program Info and Contacts

The BATTERI Program

The BATTERI program provides an inclusive, hands-on learning experience designed to prepare students for careers in clean-tech battery manufacturing.

Through partnerships with Ohio State, Columbus State Community College, Wilberforce University, and industry leaders, participants will gain technical skills, entrepreneurial insights, and practical experience in cutting-edge facilities. Combining rigorous training, interdisciplinary projects, and mentorship, BATTERI will bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs, fostering a diverse and highly skilled workforce for the rapidly growing battery and electric vehicle sectors. The BATTERI program will foster a strong sense of community through cohort-based models that encourage collaboration, belonging, and interdisciplinary learning. Through both internal and external partnerships, BATTERI participants will have access to shared resources, professional development workshops, and community engagement activities. These efforts will help ensure a supportive and enriching experience, enhancing retention and preparing students for future academic and professional success.

Goals

Expand Access to Career-enhancing Experiential Learning Opportunities

The BATTERI program creates opportunities for underserved communities and adult learners to gain valuable skills by partnering with regional universities and community colleges. It aims to grow a diverse talent pool and scale participation across institutions and communities.

Promote Cross-sector Partnerships

By connecting industry needs with academic advancements, the program supports training, reskilling, and upskilling to prepare participants for careers in emerging technology fields. These partnerships establish strong talent pipelines for the clean-tech sector.

Develop a Workforce Aligned with Regional Economies

The program addresses workforce demands in energy storage and EV manufacturing, particularly in Ohio’s booming battery sector. With projected growth in regional jobs, it equips participants with advanced manufacturing skills to meet industry needs.
