IMR Sponsoring OSU Students to Attend 2011 Ohio Innovation Summit

ORISadmin Events

The OSU Institute for Materials Research will again provide student sponsorship to support OSU student participation in the Ohio Innovation Summit.

The 2011 Ohio Innovation Summit’s theme is Returning to Ohio’s Material Roots, and the conference will be held April 19 and 20, 2011  at the Crown Plaza in Toledo, Ohio.

The Institute for Materials Research (IMR) is demonstrating its support and will sponsor up to 20 OSU students to partially offset costs associated with attending and presenting their work at this years’ Summit.  All OSU students with an IMR member faculty advisor are eligible to be sponsored.  Sponsored students are required to participate in one of the two poster sessions.

IMR’s financial sponsorship will include the Summit registration fee and one night in a shared room at the conference hotel.  Any additional expense will be the student’s responsibility, including meals not covered by the registration, mileage, poster printing, workshop fees, etc.

Attendance at this conference offers students the opportunity to showcase their work and expand their knowledge of nanomaterials,  biomaterials, and new polymer systems for application in advanced energy, biomedical devices, electronics, aerospace and transportation.   This will provide an excellent opportunity to network with representatives from a range of companies who are experts in these fields.

For students interested in having IMR sponsor your attendance at this conference, please email Peggy Kraft, IMR Program Manager, at kraft.106@osu.edu with the following information:  your name, department, student status (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral student), your faculty advisor’s name, and the title of your poster.    Please respond by March 4.

The first 20 eligible students to respond will have their registration fees and one night hotel paid by IMR. After the first 20  we will  prepare a wait list in case one or more of the initial 20 students are unable to attend.
