COVID-19 Inventor Showcase to highlight Ohio State effort to mass manufacture critical testing supplies

Mark your calendars for the Dec. 15 virtual panel discussion.

As COVID-19 spread throughout Ohio and the country, the Institute for Materials Research (IMR) turned to its research community in the hopes of turning the tide.

The situation of dwindling testing supplies was critical, the need was urgent, and responses had to come quickly.

A multidisciplinary team at The Ohio State University quickly rose to the challenge, ultimately manufacturing one half million 3D-printed nasopharyngeal swabs critically needed in testing for COVID-19.

Now, Ohio State’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is presenting on Tuesday, Dec. 15 the story of how this team formed and executed the mass production and distribution of these testing supplies. The invention team will share stories of the process in a one-hour, virtual panel discussion.

The CCTS Optimizing Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship of Biomedical Research program, in partnership with the Corporate Engagement Office and Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Office of Technology Commercialization, as part of its ongoing COVID-19 Inventor Showcase.
