These courses include a nanofabrication short course that will be offered in early 2007 using the capabilities of the OSU Nanotech West Laboratory on West Campus.

Advancing Science and Technology - Battelle and the National Laboratories
Dr. Jeffrey Wadsworth, Executive Vice President, Global Operations, Battelle

Bio

Dr. Wadsworth holds a Ph.D. in metallurgy, has authored or co-authored over 280 papers, 1 book, and 4 U.S. patents.  His many honors include election to the rank of Fellow of three technical societies, and in 2005, he was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

Dr. Wadsworth has worked at Stanford University, Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. In 2002, he joined Battelle Memorial Institute and served as a member of the White House Transition Planning Office for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He was Battelle’s senior vice president for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) science programs.  In 2003, he was named director of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), where he was responsible for the management of DOE’s largest multipurpose science laboratory, with 4,100 employees and an annual budget of more than $1 billion.

Earlier this year, Dr. Wadsworth was named Executive Vice President of Global Operations for Battelle. In this new leadership position, he oversees the management or co-management of six national laboratories.

The 12th International Meeting on Chemical Sensors (IMCS-12) in Columbus, July 2008

IMCS-12 is an interdisciplinary forum on all aspects of chemical sensors encompassing physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering disciplines including biomedical engineering. The conference will be held at the Fawcett Center on OSU’s Columbus campus, July 13-16, 2008. Professor Sheikh Akbar of OSU’s Materials Science and Engineering department will serve as the Conference Chair.
